What is the national structure for kindergartens?

There are 625 kindergartens throughout New Zealand and 35 Kindergarten Associations.

There are two bodies that represent kindergarten.

EC Leadership represents approximately 1/3 of kindergartens and 1/2 of the number of children attending kindergarten.

• Auckland - 107 kindergartens, 3 early learning centres
• Franklin - 26 kindergartens
• Waikato - 29 kindergartens, 1 early learning centre
• Central North Island - 49 kindergartens, 8 early learning centres

NZ Kindergartens Incorporated (NZKI) represents the other Kindergarten Associations (www.nzkindergarten.org.nz)
